Glossary
Definitions of key terms used throughout Promise Tickets.
Campaign
An event listing created by a producer. A campaign includes a title, ticket price, threshold, deadline, and one or more performance dates. Campaigns progress through statuses: draft, active, converted, expired, or cancelled.
Conversion
The act of charging all saved payment cards for a campaign. A producer converts a campaign once the threshold is met. After conversion, the event is confirmed and tickets are issued.
Deadline
The date by which a campaign must reach its threshold. If the threshold is not met by the deadline, the campaign expires and no cards are charged.
Patron
A person who promises to attend an event by saving their payment card. Patrons do not need a Promise Tickets account.
Performance
A specific date and time within a campaign when the event takes place. A campaign can have multiple performances (e.g., Friday and Saturday shows).
Platform fee
A service fee added on top of the ticket face value, paid by the patron. The default platform fee is 10%.
Producer
A person or organization that creates campaigns on Promise Tickets. Producers set ticket prices, thresholds, and deadlines, and are responsible for converting campaigns when ready.
Promise
A patron's commitment to attend a specific performance. A promise includes a saved payment card, the number of tickets, and the total amount that will be charged if the campaign converts. Promises can be active, converted, failed, cancelled, or refunded.
Threshold
The minimum number of ticket promises a campaign needs before the producer can convert it. The threshold ensures the event is only confirmed when there's enough demand.
Stripe Connect
The payment infrastructure that allows producers to receive payouts. Producers connect their Stripe account through a standard onboarding process.
