Patron quickstart
How to promise tickets as a patron — save your card, get charged only if the event happens.
As a patron, you can promise to attend an event without being charged upfront. Here's how it works.
1. Find an event
Event producers share their campaign links directly — via text, email, social media, or QR codes on flyers. Click the link to visit the event page.
You don't need a Promise Tickets account to make a promise.
2. Make a promise
On the event page:
- Select the performance date you'd like to attend.
- Enter your email address.
- Choose the number of tickets you want (1-10).
- Click Promise to attend.
You'll be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout page to save your payment card.
Your card is saved but not charged. You will only be charged if the event reaches its ticket threshold and the producer confirms the event.
3. Confirmation
After saving your card, you'll see a confirmation page and receive an email with:
- The event name and performance date.
- The number of tickets you promised.
- The total amount you'll be charged if the event is confirmed.
4. What happens next
There are two possible outcomes:
The event is confirmed. The producer converts the campaign, your card is charged, and you receive a ticket confirmation email. Show this email at the door.
The event doesn't happen. If the threshold isn't reached by the deadline, the campaign expires. Your card is never charged and your payment method is released. You'll receive an email letting you know.
Cancelling a promise
You can cancel your promise at any time before the campaign is converted. When you cancel:
- Your saved card is released immediately.
- You will not be charged.
- You'll receive a cancellation confirmation email.
