When you get charged

Understand exactly when and why your card is charged after making a promise.

Your card is never charged when you make a promise. Here's when the charge actually happens.

The charge trigger

Your card is charged when the event producer converts the campaign. This happens after:

  1. The campaign has reached its ticket threshold (enough people have promised).
  2. The producer decides to confirm the event and clicks the convert button.

Both conditions must be met. The threshold being reached does not automatically trigger charges — the producer must take action.

What you're charged

The total charge equals:

  • Ticket price (set by the producer) x number of tickets
  • Plus platform fee (10% of the ticket price) x number of tickets

This is the same total shown to you when you made your promise and in your confirmation email.

How the charge works

The charge is processed using the card you saved when you made your promise. It's an off-session charge, meaning you don't need to be online or take any action. The charge happens automatically.

After you're charged

You'll receive a ticket confirmation email with:

  • The event name and performance date
  • Number of tickets
  • Amount charged
  • Instructions to show the email at the door as your ticket

If the charge fails

If your card can't be charged (expired, insufficient funds, bank decline), your promise is marked as failed. You'll receive an email explaining that the payment could not be processed. See Failed payments for more details.
