Can't cancel a promise

Why you might not be able to cancel a promise and what to do.

If you're having trouble cancelling your promise, here are the most common reasons.

Campaign already converted

If the campaign has already been converted, all active promises have been charged. You cannot cancel a promise that has already been charged.

What to do: Contact the event producer directly to discuss a refund. Producers can issue refunds through their Stripe dashboard. See Refunds for details.

Promise already cancelled

If your promise is already in "cancelled" status, it has already been cancelled and your card was released. No further action is needed.

Campaign expired

If the campaign has expired, all promises were automatically cancelled and all cards were released. You were not charged. No action is needed.

Incorrect email

The cancellation process requires the email address you used when making the promise. If you're entering a different email, the cancellation will not go through.

What to do: Try the exact email address you used when you made the promise — the same one that received your promise confirmation email.

Info

Promises can only be cancelled while the campaign is active — that is, before the producer converts or the campaign expires. Once a campaign is no longer active, the promise status is final.
